The Ole Miss game was a back and forth battle!!
But nothing could stop our Auburn men!!
Remaining calm, they never got rattled!
And, in the end found a way to win!!
Each opponent we face, keeps us raising the bar!
We are dodging bullets from all around!!
It's no longer a battle but an out and out war!!
And Our Auburn Tigers keep standing their ground!!
Our goal is to be the champions of all!!!
But our focus is to be the best team on the field!!
We keep pushing forward and standing tall!
Never giving up, Never losing our will!!
Our Auburn Tigers have a strong winning desire!!
When the game gets close, they Believe they will win!!
Never giving up, They're a team on fire!!
They have proved it over and over again!!
So we must keep the Faith in our coaches and team!!!
They may stumble, but they refuse to fall down!!
We may bite our nails, close our eyes and scream!!!;
But a way to win will always be found!

Week 2 of the CFP Rankings

Auburn's road victory didn't prove to be enough to move up in the CFP Poll, but it did earn a remark by Committee Chair Jeff Long. Long is also the Arkansas Athletic Director. His comment about Auburn?
"There wasn't any discussion to move Auburn to second ahead of Florida State. Auburn is a solid 3rd with the committee."
The main topic of course, is who will the other participants be in the 1st ever College Football Playoff. The answer is very cloudy at the moment, what with tons of games yet to be played.
Our main concern is Auburn, and the teams that remain on our schedule, so we will take a look at some of things that need to happen for Auburn to be a part of these playoffs.
Remaining games on Auburn's schedule are:

Texas A & M is still just as much an enigma as they were last week. Knowing that the 2nd week is when we see the most improvement in QB's during their first season, we can surmise that the Aggies QB will be ready for his first road SEC start. At least somewhat.
He'll be more ready for game speed decisions. I don't think there is anyway he can be ready for awaits him at Jordan-Hare stadium.
Georgia laid the proverbial egg in "The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party" last Saturday when Florida gave the world a road map on how to take a bite out of the 'Dawgs.
Auburn needs to just make sure they stay the course vs UGA.
Bama had a week off, so nothing has changed there.
These teams need something to go their way, or there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Randy's Thoughts: Ole Miss 2014
I have witnessed a lot of Auburn football games and I keep thinking that I have seen the best and then this game happens. This game will certainly now be in my top 10 and Auburn somehow came out with the win with a remarkable ending.
The win must be a sign for the future of Auburn football because I was at Chastain Park in the ATL today and I found this print by Richard Russell at the art show. As the caption says, I now think that Auburn is "Ascending to New Heights".
My stars of the game were CAP for rushing for 143 yards, Sammie Coates for making several key receptions, Nick Marshall for engineering 5 touchdowns and Kris Frost. A star for Cassanova McKinzy for recovering the fumble in the end zone at the end of the game.
Of course, Auburn once again overcame various penalties that amounted to 145 yards. It did seem that the referees wanted the viewers to know that they were a part of this game because it appeared that they were throwing a flag on every play. This crew along with the crew under Tom Ritter all need to sit down and read the rule book. Some calls were warranted; however, some of the interference and holding calls on Auburn were borderline. Hopefully, someone at the SEC office is reviewing the performance of these referees and offering training so that they can do a better job.
The defense did struggle at times, but did come up with two big turnovers that helped to win the game. I just have one observation on offense. I do feel that Auburn should stick to the ground on the third and short plays particularly in the second half. Auburn's run game only gets better later in the game and the opposing defense is often tired of making tackles.
Now it is time for the Texas A&M game and I will be in Auburn to see this game. I still remember the 2012 game and Auburn had no answer for "Johnny Football" that day. Also, I heard a Texas A&M coach mention after the game that he wanted to score 80 on Auburn that day. I am sure that this game will be mentioned in Coach Malzahn's pregame speech and the result will be much different this time.
I do wish Treadwell of Ole Miss the best in his recovery from his injury. I do remember that he was recruited by Auburn and I am sure that he knew a lot of the Auburn players.

The Sky is Blue, The Earth is Yellow

The ground that we play this game on is usually covered in a beAUtiful green grass. Unless of course, you play in Boise, Idaho. The field Auburn and Ole Miss played on was yellow most of the night.
I can honestly say that I have never witnessed that many penalties in an Auburn game. On one hand, I am absolutely sick of the refs interjecting their way into games, and yet are unable to call a game the same for both teams. The other side to that is, Auburn was favored properly on both of the review calls. Not to mention the needless late hits that occurred out of bounds that the Tigers were guilty of.

There was so much about the way the Auburn defense played that was undisciplined, and yet, it came up with two huge stops twice, in the 4th quarter. Some of the same problems that Auburn has had since Ted Roof was hired as Defensive Coordinator are still problems today. In Ellis Johnson's second season, we are still missing tackles, and not covering obvious pass routes properly.
Much to the chagrin of our Defensive coaching staff, the players are not taking to the game, what they are being taught at practice. I don't know how to fix that, but if it doesn't get fixed soon, there will be more frustration ahead for the Auburn family.
The offense, for all it's first half woes, kept showing signs that it can score at will when the cylinders are all firing on time. When it is firing, oh boy what a sight to see. Deep passes, long runs, and terrific blocking all around make this offense run like a NASCAR Champion. However, keeping that engine in tune on a consistent basis has eluded the coaches and players.
Our toughest foes are ahead of us, and we are in no position to feel we can beat anybody. Why would we? We've only played one game all season where the defense and the offense both clicked, and that was against a young LSU. Georgia and Alabama won't be pushovers. When they have opportunities to put you away, they will.
First though, we must ready ourselves for a visit from Texas A & M. The Aggies will come to JHS expecting to upset the home standing Tigers. Lets learn from our mistakes this week at practice, and come out firing on all cylinders. Our offense needs to run like a Ferrari and the defense needs to be a stout as a Bulldozer.
