A Third Consecutive Super Regional for Auburn Softball

The Auburn Softball Team began their quest for their third consecutive Super Regional under the guidance of Clint Myers with an 11-0 win over East Tennessee State on Friday afternoon. Auburn scored 10 runs in the 4th inning to put this game away.

Makayla Martin got the win and only allowed one hit in this shutout. Kendall Veach gets my "gold" star for this game by going 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs.

Auburn faced the Cal Golden Bears in game 2 on Saturday. The Auburn bats were alive again in this game with 15 hits and 4 runs. This game went 9 innings and ended with a walk off single down the left field line by Alyssa Rivera that scored Brittany Maresette who had come in to run for Carlee Wallace.

Kaylee Carlson started the game and Makayla Martin coming in to pitch 3 innings of relief. She allowed no runs and recorded two strikeouts.

Carlee Wallace may have saved the game in the 9th inning when she caught a runner in a rundown who had strayed too far off of third base.

Auburn faced the Cal Golden Bears in a Sunday morning game for game 3. Auburn struck early and scored 7 runs in the first two innings. Auburn put on a hitting clinic by recording 16 hits and won 8-2. Kasey Cooper and Haley Fagan each had 3 hits and a home run to lead the offense.

Kaylee Carlson got the win and Makayla Martin came in for relief and notched her second save for the year.

I feel that this Auburn team is now playing their best softball of the year just in time for the Super Regionals next week. Auburn will play the winner of the Oklahoma/Tulsa game that will be played on Monday at noon CDT. Auburn only needs to win two more games to go to another World Series in Oklahoma City.
