Waiting on Spring

photo from the 2014 A-Day game

Officially the start of Spring is less than a month away. Still, the start of football practice is what signals "Spring" to many a Tiger fan.

This year there are many changes we will notice in our football team. Most notably we will find a new face leading our team. Jeremy Johnson has patiently paid his due, and is ready to take the helm. Johnson has proven he is a competent passer and plenty able to step in and take control of the Gus Malzahn offense.

There are changes afoot for us the fan as well. A new video board, the largest in all of college football, will be installed in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Plus, plans are in place for even more change to the stadium.

From the Auburn official website:
"On the drawing board for the North end zone are plans to add premium club level seating, a state-of-the-art home locker room and recruiting lounge plus amenities for fans. The Auburn Board of Trustees told the athletic department it could hire an architect and construction manager to draw up plans and determine the cost. The trustees could vote on whether to proceed with the project later this year."

On the defensive side of the ball there will be plenty of change for us to witness. A new Defensive Coordinator in Will Muschamp, and a new Defensive Backs coach in Travaris Robinson will reshape what the Auburn defense will look like from the stands. In addition, Auburn's defense will have a new face coaching the Linebackers. Lance Thompson, considered one of the best recruiters, is also a proven coach at the Linebacker position. Our guys have plenty of talent, maybe with some additional coaching, they can reach their full potential.

Yes there will be many changes to witness this coming football season. We as fans will get our first look at some of those changes on April 18th when our Tigers hold the annual A-Day game. I for one, am looking forward to the day.

The Legend #34

Bo Jackson: An Auburn Legend
There has been a lot of talk surrounding the 40 yard dash in the NFL Combine. The record speed of 4.12 in the event belongs to Bo Jackson. The questions remain about the validity of such a feat because then the NFL hand timed this event.

One simple thing keeps eluding almost every person who has wrote about this subject. This event was timed by someone who had experience. This was NOT the first time they had timed a 40 yard dash, and Bo Jackson was not the first athlete they timed that day.

It's time to lay all the excuses aside. Vincent Bo Jackson is the true record holder of the 40 yard dash at the NFL Combine. His time of 4.12 may never be broken, lets just leave it at that.

2015 Auburn Gymnastics 360: Episode 5

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

I hope that this blog post finds you all well. I am just trying to stay warm today and looking forward to the Auburn/Alabama basketball game tonight.

I was just looking over some statistics of the Auburn/Georgia basketball and football series and I did notice that the football series is now tied at 55 wins and 55 losses (I did not include the 8 ties) and the basketball series is now tied at 90 wins and 90 losses after that big Auburn win last Saturday.

Enjoy the game tonight and War Eagle!

An All Auburn Weekend

It was quite the weekend for Auburn!

Gymnastics
Although Auburn gymnastics did not win the meet, they did well enough against #2 LSU (lost only by .05 points) to move up to #8 in the country!

Coach Malzahn was there rooting our girls on with an amazing home crowd!  I know that was earlier in the week.

Baseball
Friday night, baseball got a win.

Auburn Spirit
Saturday, we saw new trees planted at our beloved Toomer's Corner. It will never be the same, but we can go together on a new adventure. Generations from now, Auburn families will look back to this weekend as a fresh start. I wish I could have been there. I did watch the video online.

Softball
Auburn Softball is absolutely killing it. All but one game they have won by the run rule. I think big things are in store for this softball team.

Basketball
Then on Saturday afternoon, Auburn basketball got an amazing win. It was not at home, but the win was incredible! They fought back after being down close to the end of the game.m This season may not see Auburn to any postseason play, but this is the start of something BIG.

Auburn baseball got another win on Sunday to win the series and Auburn softball got another win to end the weekend.

Swimming and Diving
Auburn is getting ready to host the SEC Championships in Swimming. If you've never been into swimming but have the opportunity to go, you should. There are only standing room only tickets left, but trust me when I say you won't sit down to watch a swim meet anyway.

This past weekend and always, its great to be an Auburn Tiger.

Evaluating the Recruiting Class of 2015

Most of the prospective student athletes L.O.I.'s are in, and the results are very good. Coach Gus Malzahn and his staff have done an incredible job of bringing quality and talent to the Auburn University football program.

Reloading will be the norm at Auburn for the next few years, so get used to winning lots of games.

There were three areas of concern that were addressed with positive results. Defensive Back, Defensive Line, and Linebacker. This year's crop of recruits will fit the bill nicely.

On offense the only true need was offensive line, and that was actually for the future, not a true "NEED" per se.  Lots of young talent there as well.

As Ohio State proved this past football season, the back up players truly need to be ready at a moments notice. The Buckeyes went deep into their depth chart utilizing their third string QB to win the College Football Playoff Championship.

Auburn's depth chart got a tremendous boost with the addition of Tyler Queen.

National Signing Day: Live Blog

This post will be written on two blog pages simultaneously. I like to call it, "Simul-posting."
Track Em Tigers and Auburn Tiger Bloggin' will join forces today for this one special event. National Signing Day!

Today our Auburn Tigers welcome new student athletes to our wonderful family. We will love the one that want to be here, and wish the others the best. Except of course, when we meet them on the filed of battle! War Eagle!

Last night was a busy one. 4 Star Defensive End -  Prince Tega Wanogho committed to Auburn late yesterday afternoon, and later 4 Star Athlete - Darius Slayton decommitted from Georgia and committed to sign with Auburn. His announcement came thru social media, Twitter to be exact.

Stay tuned as we try and keep up with the days happenings....
